Premier League, City and Aston Villa win: Newcastle fall

Rome, Dec. 14 (LaPresse) – On matchday 16 of the Premier League, Manchester City cruised to a 3–0 away win over Crystal Palace, with a brace from Haaland (41st and 89th minutes) and a goal by Foden (69th). Aston Villa also claimed victory away at West Ham. The Hammers took an early lead through Fernandes, before the visitors equalised via a Mavropanos own goal. The hosts went ahead again with Bowen in the 24th minute, but Aston Villa first drew level once more with Rogers and then took the lead thanks to another goal by Rogers. Newcastle suffered an away defeat against Sunderland (1–0) due to an own goal by Woltemade.
