Rome, 22 December (LaPresse) – Fear for some cyclists from Sc Padovani Polo Cherry Bank who, during a training session in Val d’Adige, were grazed by several gunshots. As reported on the club’s website yesterday morning, during training the cyclists were approached by a car from which the shots were fired. The athletes barely had time to duck for cover before the car sped away without leaving any trace. “The Lake Garda area is one of the most hospitable and suitable for training at this time of year. Every day, we carefully and attentively plan our training routes to avoid the main roads and peak traffic times. It is no coincidence that we had moved to Val d’Adige, on a smooth and fairly wide road that is free of heavy traffic on Saturdays. Our athletes wear high-visibility clothing and have lights on their bikes to make them visible to motorists. We followed the riders from the first to the last kilometre, occasionally allowing drivers to overtake with the team car, but more respect is needed,” said team manager Dimitri Konychev.
