Premier League, Manchester United vs Newcastle: the only match on Boxing Day

Rome, 25 Dec. (LaPresse) – Manchester United-Newcastle will be the only match on Boxing Day, the traditional Premier League match day played on St Stephen’s Day. A festive classic for English fans, who will be left almost without football this year. The reason for this decision lies in the expansion of European cup competitions, which have reduced the number of slots in the calendar, in a wider change that has also affected the FA Cup. However, the English league has assured that next year there should be more Boxing Day matches, as 26 December falls on a Saturday. Tomorrow, therefore, only the match between the Red Devils and the Magpies will take place. On Saturday 27 December, Nottingham Forest will play Manchester City, West Ham will play Fulham, Brentford will play Bournemouth, Liverpool will play Wolverhampton, Arsenal will play Brighton, Burnley will play Everton and Chelsea will play Aston Villa. On Sunday, Sunderland will play Leeds and Crystal Palace will play Aston Villa.
