Rome, 3 January (LaPresse) – The relegation battle between Genoa and Pisa, led by World Cup winners Daniele De Rossi and Alberto Gilardino, ended in a 1-1 draw at Marassi. In the match valid for the 18th day of Serie A, the Rossoblù took the lead with Colombo in the 15th minute with a surgical left foot, and Leris equalised in the 38th minute with an empty net goal after a less than perfect save by the Genoa goalkeeper. In the second half, the hosts had another chance with a header from Thorsby, but Semper responded by saving the ball from the corner. In the 81st minute, Pisa tried their luck with a double shot from Piccinini, which was blocked by the Rossoblù defence. Genoa, coming off three consecutive defeats, moved up to 15 points, while Pisa, with their ninth draw of the season, remain second from bottom with 12 points.
