Milan, 7 January (LaPresse) – Trapani Shark officially excluded from the Basketball Champions League. This was decided by FIBA (International Basketball Federation) after ‘game 1 of the competition’s play-ins,’ played in Samokov, Bulgaria, ‘between Hapoel Netanel Holon and Trapani Shark, resulted in a forfeit defeat for Trapani Shark (38-5), as the team had fewer than two players on the court ready to play.’ FIBA explains that the decision was taken ‘in accordance with Article 14.5.4 of the Basketball Champions League Regulations’, according to which ‘a team that loses a game by forfeit or forfeit in the play-ins and play-offs will lose the series’.
