Australian Open: Shelton defeats Ruud in four sets and faces Sinner in the quarter-finals

Milan, 26 January (LaPresse) – Ben Shelton will be Jannik Sinner’s opponent in the quarter-finals of the Australian Open. The American tennis player, ranked 7th in the world and 8th in the seedings, defeated Norway’s Casper Ruud, ranked 12th, in the round of 16, coming back from behind to win in four sets with a score of 3-6, 6-4, 6-3, 6-4 in 2 hours and 38 minutes of play. This is Shelton’s fifth Grand Slam quarter-final, his third in Australia. For the second time, Shelton will face Jannik Sinner across the net, following the Italian’s victory at Wimbledon in 2025.
