Europa League: Panathinaikos–Roma 1-1, Giallorossi through to the Round of 16

Turin, Jan. 29 (LaPresse) – Roma draw 1-1 away to Panathinaikos in the match valid for the final day of the Europa League “league phase” and finish the group in eighth place, clinching a direct berth in the Round of 16 at the last gasp. A tough game for the Giallorossi, who were down to ten men from the 15th minute of the first half after Mancini was sent off for a foul on Pantovic. In the second half, the Greeks took the lead in the 13th minute through Taborda, who made the most of a serious mistake by Ghilardi in the build-up, but in the 35th minute Ziolkowski equalized with a header, sending Gasperini’s men straight to the Round of 16.
