Blanc wins Super-G in Crans Montana, Goggia second

Milan, 31 January (LaPresse) – Best result of her career for Roberta Melesi, who put in a superb performance, especially in the upper and middle sections, where sliding was key. She lost a few tenths in the final technical section, but the Italian from Ballabio’s performance was truly impressive. For a long time, Melesi remained in third place, behind Goggia, who was then beaten by Breezy Johnson, wearing bib number 29. It was a real shame for Laura Pirovano from Trentino, who was clearly the fastest on the course throughout, showing perfect passages and an aggressiveness that would have allowed her to achieve her first career victory. Unfortunately, a mistake in the final forced her to miss the penultimate gate and say goodbye to her dreams of glory. Federica Brignone was making a comeback in speed, with only three days of training under her belt. She got off to a good start, but then suffered a dangerous slip, from which the Valle d’Aosta native quickly recovered, but lost several tenths of a second, which affected her performance. In the final, however, the Italian carabiniere found her form again to finish in 17th place, 1.28 seconds behind Blanc. Elena Curtoni lost her ideal line and slipped through a gate without physical consequences, but that was the end of her race. The downhill race cancelled on Friday in Crans Montana will be rescheduled for 6 March in Val di Fassa.
