Serie A, Pisa-Sassuolo 1-3: Berardi on fire

Milan, 31 January (LaPresse) – A superb Berardi leads Sassuolo to a 3-1 victory away at Pisa in the early match of the 23rd round of Serie A. Fabio Grosso’s Neroverdi earn three crucial points, temporarily drawing level with Udinese in tenth place with 29 points. The situation is becoming increasingly complicated for Pisa, however, who are bottom of the table with 14 points alongside Verona. Pisa got off to a good start, with the Tuscan side even finding the net through Bozhinov, but the referee and VAR ruled it out for offside. As the minutes passed, Sassuolo grew in confidence and the returning Berardi took centre stage. The striker broke the deadlock in the 25th minute with a great diagonal right-footed goal after dribbling past two opponents. At the end of the half, Berardi himself caused Caracciolo to score an own goal with a diagonal shot from inside the penalty area. In the second half, Pisa pushed forward courageously and in the 51st minute reduced the deficit with a right-footed shot from the edge of the box by Aebischer. Shortly afterwards, the Tuscan side almost equalised through Leris, but Idzes saved on the line with a diving tackle. In the 58th minute, however, it was Sassuolo who found the net again with a right-footed shot from the centre of the box by Koné, assisted by Berardi. In the final minutes, Sassuolo controlled Pisa’s attempts to react and took home the three points.
