Milan, 2 February (LaPresse) – “I’m not saying that Milan are inferior to Inter. I’m responding to Chivu; they are top of the table and have a chance of winning. In recent years, they have hardly ever dropped out of the top two places. Chivu is doing a great job, he coached Parma for two months with a great save and now he is doing very well at Inter. We have excellent players but with different characteristics from those of Inter.” So said Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri during the press conference on the eve of the match against Bologna. ‘I repeat: I, and the whole club, are disappointed not to be participating in the Champions League. We work to play in that competition. If you want to stay at the top, you have to play at the top and in the Champions League. In fact, we hope to play in the Club World Cup in two years’ time. I read a lot of controversy. It’s not up to us to find solutions, there are competent people who have to find solutions for the good of football,’ he said. For Allegri, Milan must ‘improve certain moments of the game, as happened in Rome, where we risked conceding a goal after 15 seconds. We had difficulties because of Roma’s merits but also because of our own shortcomings. Their strength is to jump on us and steal the ball. We must improve in that area as well as in many other things, without ever losing sight of the final result that should lead us to achieve our goal.’
