Milan-Cortina: men’s ice hockey, Italy defeated by Slovakia 2-3

Milan, 13 February (LaPresse) – Italy narrowly misses out on victory, with Slovakia winning 3-2 at the Milano Rho Ice Hockey Arena: the Azzurri played on equal terms with the Beijing 2022 bronze medallists, paying dearly only for their dip in form in the second period and too many power plays conceded. The Azzurri came out with their heads held high after a performance showing great character. After a first period of resistance, the Azzurri fell behind to goals from Libor Hudacek and Matus Sukel, putting Slovakia 2-0 up. Matt Bradley narrowed the gap for Italy in the 37th minute. Then, after Slovakia’s third goal by Adam Ruzicka in the 56th minute, Dustin Gazley scored to make it 2-3, reigniting Italy’s hopes. With this victory, Slovakia moves up to 2 wins and 0 losses, securing their place in the next round in Group B. In contrast, Italy has lost both games played so far.
