Cortina d’Ampezzo (Belluno), Feb. 14 (LaPresse) – Fifth place for Lisa Vittozzi in the women’s biathlon sprint at the Milan Cortina Winter Olympics. The Italian athlete was flawless at the shooting range, hitting ten out of ten, but paid the price on skis compared to her rivals, still putting herself in a good position ahead of Sunday’s pursuit. Norway’s Maren Kirkeeide won the gold medal in a time of 20:40.8, ahead of France’s Oceane Michelon (+3.8) and Lou Jeanmonnot (+23.7). A race to forget, instead, for Dorothea Wierer, who finished 44th, 2:12.9 behind the winner with three total shooting errors. The other Italian athletes did better: Michela Carrara placed 23rd and Hannah Auchentaller 43rd.
