Klaebo makes history with nine Olympic gold medals, equalling Lewis and Spitz

Milan, 15 February (LaPresse/Ap) – Norway’s Johannes Hoesflot Klaebo cemented his legacy at the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics by winning his ninth Olympic gold medal in cross-country skiing, setting a record for the Winter Games. The 29-year-old clinched victory in the men’s relay, his fourth gold at the Games, equalling Summer Games legends such as Carl Lewis and Mark Spitz on the all-time Olympic gold list. With two races remaining, Klaebo could move closer to Michael Phelps’ unrivalled record of 23 gold medals. In his third Olympic appearance, Klaebo is earning praise from teammates and rivals alike as Norway continues to dominate cross-country skiing.
