Milan-Cortina, Brignone: ‘I would trade my two gold medals to avoid my injury’

Milan, 16 February (LaPresse) – “I completely ruined my leg and knee, and every day is a struggle. It will take time, my tibia is no longer aligned, it has a hole in it. Mine was a multiple fracture, and I never wanted to think about how serious it was. For two months, I couldn’t even bend my leg, and even now I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to play tennis again. So yes, I would trade my two Olympic medals to go back and not suffer this injury.” These were the words of Federica Brignone, interviewed by “Repubblica” the day after winning her second gold medal in the giant slalom at the Milan-Cortina Olympics. Two unexpected golds for the skier from Valle d’Aosta: ‘I would have said “impossible, what kind of dreams are you having?”’, she added: ‘If I had come here to win gold, I would have returned without any medals. It was a miracle to be there, to carry the flag, which was what I wanted most and was missing in my life.’
