Milan, 24 February (LaPresse) – The US women’s ice hockey team, gold medallists at the Milan-Cortina Games, have politely declined President Donald Trump’s invitation to attend his State of the Union address on Tuesday. In a statement, the US women’s team said it was ‘sincerely grateful for the invitation’ but would be unable to attend ‘due to scheduling conflicts’. Trump also invited the US men’s team, gold medallists. Scheduling will be difficult, as the NHL calendar resumes on Wednesday with five games and the PWHL calendar on Thursday. The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the status of both teams.
