NBA, Adebayo makes history: 83 points against Washington

Miami (USA), Mar 11 (LaPresse) – Bam Adebayo makes NBA history. During last night’s regular season game, the Miami Heat center scored 83 points against the Washington Wizards, achieving the second-highest performance ever. Only the American player with Nigerian citizenship Wilt Chamberlain did better, scoring 100 points on March 2, 1962, in the game between his Philadelphia Warriors and the New York Knicks. Adebayo surpassed by just two points the 81 scored by Kobe Bryant in 2006 in the matchup between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Toronto Raptors.

Here are Adebayo’s stats: 41 minutes and 54 seconds on the court, 20/43 field goals, 7/22 three-pointers, and 36/43 free throws. The points were distributed as follows: 31 in the first quarter, 12 in the second, 20 in the third, and 21 in the final quarter for the Newark-born center, class of 1997, 14th pick in the 2017 Draft, and with the Miami Heat ever since.

“Wilt, me, then Kobe. It seems crazy,” Adebayo said, commenting on his unforgettable night during which he scored 83 points, a record only second to Wilt Chamberlain, who scored 100 points in 1962.
