Football: Italy out on penalties, Bosnia qualify for the World Cup

Turin, 31 Mar. (LaPresse) – For the third time in a row, Italy have failed to qualify for the World Cup. The Azzurri lost the play-off final against Bosnia on penalties in Zenica after the match ended 1-1 after extra time. Kean had put the Azzurri ahead in the 14th minute of the first half following an assist from Barella, but in the second half Tabakovic equalised in the 34th minute, sending the match into extra time. In the penalty shoot-out, mistakes by Pio Esposito and Bryan Cristante proved decisive, whilst the Bosnians were flawless from the spot.
