Turin, Apr 7 (LaPresse) – “It will be an incredibly strong emotion to play at home in front of our fans; it’s something that makes us smile and fills our hearts.” These are the first words of Tathiana Garbin, captain of the Italian women’s tennis team, winners of the last two editions of the BJK Cup, who from Friday will compete in Velletri in the Qualifier against Japan. “These are the first days of training,” Garbin added to Super Tennis. “We’re looking for the right feel on a surface, clay, that many of my players haven’t played on for some time.”
Quality, assessment of the players’ strengths, and a touch of superstition led Garbin to choose a surface that has “brought us much luck in the past.” “We had the opportunity to choose, and we chose clay: we have a very strong doubles team and two very strong singles players.
