Rome, 13 April (LaPresse) – Buoyed by his first Masters 1000 title on clay at Monte Carlo, Jannik Sinner begins his week today as world number one, the 67th such week of his career compared to 66 for the Spaniard. With the 50 points from the 2025 Halle ATP 500 having been deducted, Sinner holds a 110-point lead over Alcaraz, who will play in Barcelona next week whilst Jannik remains in Monte Carlo. Alcaraz, last year’s runner-up, will reclaim the number one spot if he wins the title. Lorenzo Musetti, meanwhile, slips out of the Top 5 to ninth place, having failed to build on last year’s final. His run came to an end against Monegasque player Valentin Vacherot, who reached the semi-finals after putting up a creditable performance against Carlos Alcaraz and is making his debut in the Top 20: he is today celebrating his highest ever ranking at No. 17.
