Rome, 14 May (LaPresse) – The Roma-Lazio derby will be played on Sunday 17 May at 12 noon. The decision was taken following a meeting of the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Safety held today at the Prefecture, after the President of the Lazio Regional Administrative Court called for discussions to find a mutually agreed solution regarding the scheduling of the match. The meeting was attended by the Mayor of Rome, the Chief of Police, the provincial commanders of the Carabinieri and the Guardia di Finanza, the President of the Serie A League, representatives of the Italian Open tennis tournament and the CEO of Sport e Salute. On the agenda was the issue of the clash between the Rome derby and the men’s final of the Italian Open, scheduled for 5pm at the Foro Italico, on a weekend characterised by an exceptional influx of spectators and significant security requirements. During the meeting, a commitment was secured from the Serie A League, the organisers of the tennis tournament and Sport e Salute to significantly strengthen safety measures and operational coordination. In light of the new organisational framework, the Committee has therefore decided to bring forward the kick-off of the derby to midday, whilst confirming the schedule for the Internazionali. Security services and crowd management plans will be further enhanced during the technical meeting convened for tomorrow at 5.30 pm at the Police Headquarters. Consequently, the matches Como v Parma, Genoa v Milan, Juventus v Fiorentina, Roma v Lazio and Pisa v Napoli – all of which are crucial in the race for Champions League qualification – will also be played on Sunday at 12 noon.
