Rome, 14 May (LaPresse) – “The Federation must support Serie A without encroaching on the League’s autonomy, but by acting as the guardian of the public interest. The growth of the top flight must benefit the entire football pyramid. For this reason, the Federation’s policies must link national licences, investment in youth academies, the development of women’s football, the modernisation of facilities and economic sustainability. A stronger Serie A is not at odds with a more balanced system: on the contrary, without a solid foundation, the very competitiveness of the top flight will weaken in the medium term.” This is what is stated in the programme of Giovanni Malagò, candidate for the presidency of the Italian Football Federation. “The issue of broadcasting rights is central, but not sufficient. The value of the product must be defended by combating piracy, expanding international distribution platforms and improving the stadium experience. Serie A must become a more global league without losing its Italian identity: technical quality, tactical culture, history, local areas, sporting rivalries and style must be organised as part of a unified commercial narrative. The Federation’s leadership must support this agenda through robust institutional dialogue on stadium infrastructure, taxation, security, technology and content protection, so that the growth of Serie A translates into growth for the entire system.”
Football, Malagò’s plan: “The FIGC will act as a guarantor without encroaching on Serie A’s autonomy”
