Milan, 17 May (LaPresse) – Inter drew 1-1 with Verona on matchday 37, the penultimate round of the Serie A season. The result allows Cristian Chivu’s Nerazzurri to celebrate their Scudetto and Coppa Italia double in the best possible way. Before the match, there was a touching tribute to Evaristo Beccalossi, the Nerazzurri legend who recently passed away, followed by a match played in a festive atmosphere. The stadium was packed and enthusiastic for the Nerazzurri’s celebrations, but on the pitch the pace was distinctly that of the end of the season, with few chances to speak of in the first half. In the second half, Bonny broke the deadlock with a deflection from Edmundsson. The Frenchman, having squandered a great chance, scored with a header from the resulting corner. Inter came close to doubling their lead on at least a couple of occasions through Lautaro and, in the closing stages, through Sucic. But in stoppage time, Verona surprisingly found the equaliser through a goal from the ever-reliable Bowie, the Verona striker’s fourth consecutive away goal. And after Juventus, Inter were also among his victims.
