Rome, 14 June (LaPresse) – ‘I must start by saying a huge thank you to Ferrari and to everyone who worked at the factory. A thank you to Fred (Vasseur, ed.) for wanting me here. Last year I started out with a dream and I never gave up hope. I have the best fans in the world and we’ve achieved everything we dreamed of.’ So said Lewis Hamilton after winning the Barcelona Grand Prix, the Briton’s first victory with Ferrari. “All wins are special, but this one is unique. I used to watch Ferrari when I was a kid; when I was racing, I’d see them on the screens. This moment has finally arrived. I’ll be forever grateful. I hope it’s the first of many. We were brilliant in the pit stop and the car was fantastic,” he continued. ‘Through hard work, we’ve rediscovered the feeling. I must thank those who worked behind the scenes, believing in and trusting the decisions we made; we started this journey together. I love what I do; there’s no greater thrill. The fight for the championship? We’ll take this result; Mercedes is still very fast, we need to improve – it’s certainly not over yet,’ he concluded.
