The Milanese player, ranked 74th in the ATP rankings and having come through the qualifiers, defeated Kazakhstan’s Alexander Bublik, ranked 11th and seeded 6th, the defending champion in Halle, in the first round in two sets with a score of 7-6 (6), 6-1.
