Berlin, Jul. 4 (LaPresse) – Jürgen Klopp has confirmed contacts with the German Football Association, saying he is ready to take on the role of national team coach after the resignation of Julian Nagelsmann, following Germany’s elimination by Paraguay in the round of 16 of the World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada. “Julian resigned and the federation is working on his replacement, and they contacted me as part of these discussions,” Klopp said, speaking from New York live on Magenta TV, where he is covering the World Cup. “About two years ago I left Liverpool and said I did not have the energy for another job or another year at Liverpool. Since then I feel more than recharged, I am ready,” Klopp added, noting however that negotiations will take time given his current role as global head of football for the Red Bull group. For Klopp, “German football is clearly at a turning point. Now we have to change things radically. Whether it ends up being me or someone else does not change the fact that changes are needed.”
