Florence, 9 July (LaPresse) – “I’d like to thank the Fiorentina board for giving me the opportunity to manage a great club, and that makes me proud. I’d also like to thank Sassuolo, where I spent two wonderful years – a journey that has led to this opportunity with Fiorentina.” So said Fabio Grosso today at Viola Park during his first press conference as Fiorentina manager, held to mark the 20th anniversary of Italy’s World Cup victory in Germany, secured thanks to the decisive penalty scored by the new manager of the Viola. “Twenty years have passed since that penalty. The level we reached in 2006 remains etched in the pages of history,” recalled Grosso. “Then I changed careers, and being a manager requires many different skills from those of a player. Today is a historic day.”
