Rome, July 12. (LaPresse) – Jannik Sinner confirms his title as Wimbledon king and repeats his 2025 success, becoming the tenth player in the Open era to do so. The world number one defeated German Alexander Zverev in four sets with the score after 6-7 (7) 7-6 (2) 6-3 6-4 after 3 hours and 48′. The match was perfectly balanced for the first two sets decided in the tie break, then in the third Sinner signed the first break of the match after almost three hours of play, winning 6-3. In the fourth set, Zverev’s intensity and accuracy declined, suffering a second break in the seventh game and losing 6-4 after a final game played masterfully by Sinner. For the South Tyrolean, the victory is worth not only his second consecutive title at the Championships but also his hundredth match won in the four Grand Slam tournaments. The only player to win a Slam on the day of his 100th Slam victory was Andy Murray at the 2012 United States Open. Federer, Nadal and Djokovic did not have this privilege. It is Sinner’s fifth career Slam title.
