Turin, 15 July (LaPresse) – “I’ll try to get back on the slopes in early August. I still don’t know if I’ll be able to take part in next season. I’ve already booked my ticket to Ushuaia for September, where the whole Italian team will be training. But if I’m in the same pain as last year, it’ll be unbearable. Last year, at this time, I didn’t even know when I’d be able to walk again. So in a way, things are better this summer, but my body will never fully recover.” Federica Brignone opens up in an interview with the French newspaper ‘L’Equipe’, discussing her state of health following the serious injury she sustained in the spring of 2025 at the Italian Championships. “I’m training quite hard, but I’m also continuing with my therapy,” added the Italian skier, winner of two gold medals in the super-G and giant slalom at Milan-Cortina. “I still have a lot of trouble walking. I started training in mid-May, but I’m not doing anything like what I used to do before the injury. I can cycle, swim and go to the gym, but I can’t run, and I can’t put any weight on my feet. My body has regained muscle mass and is getting better and better, but it’s still far from perfect – or at least from how it was before. I’m in constant pain.” As for his preparations for the Games, “this time I’m preparing as if I were going to compete for the whole season. But I don’t know if I’ll be able to,” he concluded. “We’ll make decisions when the time is right.”
