Milan, 15 July (LaPresse) – Norway’s Soren Waerenskjold has won Stage 11 of the Tour de France, a 161.3 km route from Vichy to Nevers. Tadej Pogacar, of UAE Team Emirates, retains the yellow jersey as race leader. The Scandinavian rider from Uno-X Mobility beat two of the day’s favourite and most eagerly anticipated sprinters in the sprint finish: Dutchman Olav Kooij of Decathlon CMA CGM and Belgian Jasper Philipsen of Alpecin-Premier Tech. The general classification remains unchanged, with Pogacar still leading the Dane Jonas Vingegaard of Team Visma Lease a Bike by +3’36’“ and the Belgian Remco Evenepoel of Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe by +4’06”’. Thursday’s programme features the 12th stage, the Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours-Chalon-sur-Saône, covering 179.1 km, once again on a flat course suited to sprinters.
