Rome, 16 July (LaPresse) – In accordance with the provisions of the Regulations on sanctions for abuse of match officials, World Rugby confirms the automatic imposition of a two-match suspension on Gonzalo Quesada (coach of the Italian national team), which includes a ban on carrying out any activity on match day, including being present at the stadium, following comments made live on television and subsequently reported by the media after the Nations Championship match against New Zealand on 11 July. Under this procedure, Quesada has the right to appeal the sanction before a full judicial panel. “The Italian Rugby Federation has taken note of World Rugby’s decision to suspend the head coach of the men’s national team, Gonzalo Quesada, for two matches following the statements he made at the end of the New Zealand v Italy match, played on Saturday 11 July in Wellington,” explains the FIR in a statement in which it announces that it “will appeal against the decision”.
