Milan, July 16 (LaPresse) – “My philosophy of soccer is different, and I need to convey my ideas. The important thing is to see a strong Atalanta.” So said Maurizio Sarri during his press conference introducing him as Atalanta’s new head coach. “I expect a season with fewer off-field challenges; as for on-field challenges, they’re always there, but we’ll overcome them through hard work. Atalanta also has its own transfer philosophy—one that’s been top-notch for years—which I wouldn’t dare question. As for the quality of the roster, we’ll wait for the eight players returning from the World Cup and then see if anything’s missing, but I’m happy,” he added. “The goal is for the team to embrace a new way of thinking. There will be difficulties in the first few months—I faced them at Empoli too, but then we made it to the playoffs and reached Serie A the following year. At Napoli, I started with two points in three games. We’ll have to work hard and endure criticism, but then we’ll evaluate the final result,” Sarri continued.
