Milan, 21 July (LaPresse) – It’s now official: Fabio Quartararo is set to move to Honda. The 2021 world champion has signed with the official Honda HRC team for 2027 and 2028, as a new era of 850cc bikes gets underway. MotoGP has announced this on its website. The 27-year-old Frenchman made his top-class debut in 2019 after setting records in the then FIM CEV International Moto3 Championship, followed by four seasons across Moto3 and Moto2. In only his fourth MotoGP race, he secured his first pole position, finishing 2019 with six pole positions and seven podium finishes. In 2021, he won the MotoGP world title, followed by a second-place finish the following year. The Frenchman has recorded 11 wins, 32 podium finishes and 21 pole positions in the premier class to date. From 2027, he will therefore ride for Honda in the official HRC team, an announcement that comes hot on the heels of the Japanese manufacturer’s announcement regarding David Alonso: in the Colombian’s case, the name of the team he will race for is not yet known.
