They’ve hit the ground running on a wide range of issues.” So said FIGC President Giovanni Malagò in an interview with ‘Chora Media’ and ‘Cronache di Spogliatoio,’ discussing the decision to appoint Paolo Maldini and Leonardo as technical director and president of Club Italia, respectively, and as an advisor. “They’ve been to Coverciano, where they’ve already begun to revolutionize something that has tremendous potential but is currently very stagnant,” he added. “That’s where the whole concept of the talent pipeline begins—one that must lead to identifying the most talented young Italians possible. If, at the end of this term, I’m reelected to serve through 2032—when we’ll be hosting the European Championship—we need to start working today with kids who are 15–16 years old, or at most 17–18.”
