Rome, 23 July (LaPresse) – Richard Carapaz has won the 18th stage of the Tour de France, the 185.2-kilometre Voiron–Orcières–Merlette stage, featuring 3,900 metres of climbing and five GPMs. The Ecuadorian rider from Team EF Education-EasyPost secured victory with a breakaway from within the breakaway just a few kilometres from the finish. Second place went to the Swiss rider Mauro Schmid (Team Jayco AlUl), with the American Matteo Jorgenson (TVL) finishing third. Paret-Peintre took fourth place, moving to within one point of Pogacar in the mountains classification. For Carapaz, this is his 25th career victory.
