Milan, 27 July (LaPresse) – In an Instagram story, Andrea Pirlo announced that he “found out last night that he was no longer a candidate for the Italian national team manager’s role”. The former Azzurri playmaker’s statement was included in an update to the same post in which he had already attempted last night to clarify his position regarding the controversy surrounding his role as global ambassador for a Russian betting agency. FIGC president Giovanni Malagò, along with technical director Paolo Maldini and adviser Leonardo, will now have to find another candidate to take charge of the national football team ahead of the upcoming Nations League fixtures in September.
