Rome, 28 July (LaPresse) – Zinedine Zidane is officially the new head coach of the French national football team. The former captain of Les Bleus has signed a four-year contract running until 2030 and succeeds Didier Deschamps. The former Juventus and Real Madrid star will officially take up the post on 1 August and will lead the French national team from the 2026–2027 UEFA Nations League onwards. He will then oversee the Euro 2028 qualifiers, the 2028–2029 Nations League and the 2030 World Cup qualifiers. “I’ve said it often: there’s nothing greater than the French national team. So it’s a joy and, of course, a great source of pride to become the manager of this team. It’s also a responsibility. I would like to thank President Philippe Diallo, the Executive Committee and the French Football Federation for the trust they have placed in me, and to acknowledge the fourteen years of service by Didier and his staff. A special thought also goes out to all my coaches. Needless to say, I have great ambitions for the French national team!”, said Zidane.
