Milan, July 30 (LaPresse) – The federations affiliated with UEFA have decided to boycott FIFA competitions in protest against the private equity plan for the World Cup promoted by Gianni Infantino. “UEFA and its national federations will not participate in FIFA competitions,” the European football governing body said after an emergency online meeting of its 55 members. The strategic meeting was called to oppose FIFA President Infantino’s offer of 20 million dollars to each of the 211 global members, to be accepted by mid-September. Infantino’s proposal was revealed on Tuesday: it involves separating UEFA’s commercial activities in a 20 billion dollar operation, of which 20% would be acquired by private investors. The main investor would be a New York investment firm created by Joshua Kushner, who is close to US President Donald Trump. The next FIFA competition will take place in Europe: the FIFA Women’s Under-20 World Cup, which will be held in Poland starting on September 5.
