Milan, 31 July (LaPresse) – “Today I feel the same as I did whenever, for whatever reason, you couldn’t take to the pitch alongside us: how will we manage without our Captain? You taught me to fight until my last breath, what it means to be devoted to the shirt and the value of being a true leader. You did so by example, every day: few words, but so many deeds.” With these words on his Instagram profile, Paolo Maldini, Milan’s legendary captain, pays tribute to Franco Baresi, the Rossoneri icon who passed away today at the age of 66. “You protected me when I was a child, guided me as a young man and inspired me as an adult. You were the greatest footballer I ever had the honour of playing alongside. A warm embrace to your whole family, especially your wife Maura and your sons, Edoardo and Giannandrea. We will miss you, Captain. But the light of your star will continue to guide us forever,” he added.
