Rome, 3 Aug. (LaPresse) – “Chiara’s approach to competition always fascinates me greatly. She exudes calm and an ease in performing her dives, especially those that I used to find incredibly difficult. I like her because she’s still so carefree – perhaps down to her young age. I hope she can carry this attitude right through to the very end. I was perhaps too tense in my final competitions, whereas I love seeing her so light-hearted. Starting off like this with three golds is wonderful. It’s all downhill from here for her.” So said former Italian diver Tania Cagnotto – world gold medallist at Kazan 2015 and Olympic silver and bronze medallist at Rio 2026 – to LaPresse, commenting on the three golds won by Pellacani at the European Championships in Paris, the last two of which were in the mixed 3-metre synchronised and the 1-metre springboard events. “To Chiara, I’d say to keep competing with this approach, not to let anyone spoil it – not the media, not pressure – and not to put any pressure on herself either. It’s right to have a dream, but I believe she’s really approaching competitions and the years ahead in the right way. She must carry this light-heartedness with her and never let it go. There’s no need to be more serious; the important thing is to keep working hard and try to always enjoy herself in competition. She must never lose that smile she has during competition,” adds Cagnotto.
