After the bitter fourth-place finish in the 10 km open water race in the Seine, Gregorio Paltrinieri bounced back to win the bronze medal in the 5 km event at the European Swimming Championships in Paris. The race was won by Germany’s Florian Wellbrock, who crossed the finish line ahead of Betlehem and Paltrinieri, with the Italian finishing ahead of Velly. Acerenza came fifth and Guidi sixth.
