Rome, 15 Aug. (LaPresse) – Larissa Iapichino has got off to the best possible start in the long jump at the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham. The Italian cleared the qualifying mark for the final on her first attempt: a jump of 6.94 metres was enough to exceed the 6.80-metre qualifying standard, meaning she avoided taking any further risks in her subsequent jumps. At the World Championships in Tokyo, she failed to qualify for the final.
