Rome, 16 Aug. (LaPresse) – Italy’s women’s 4×100 medley relay team won silver at the European Swimming Championships. The Italian team fought it out right to the end, setting a new Italian record of 3:53.60, just ten hundredths of a second behind Great Britain, who managed to edge them out in the final stages, finishing in 3:53.50 – a new championships record. In the opening backstroke leg, Sara Curtis set another Italian record in the 100m with a time of 58.43. The bronze medal was also decided by a matter of hundredths of a second: the Neutral Athletes B team finished in 3:53.79, just 19 hundredths behind Italy. For Italy, this is a highly valuable silver medal and, above all, confirmation of a top-class relay team.
