At the Lindner Family Tennis Centre, which is hosting the seventh Masters 1000 event of the season and the concurrent WTA 1000 tournament – broadcast live and free-to-air on SuperTennis – the player from Carrara (ATP No. 13) defeated Germany’s Daniel Altmaier (ATP No. 65) 6-4, 6-2 to secure his third career victory at the tournament. He now has the chance to progress past the first two rounds in Cincinnati for the first time. He will face American Michael Zheng, who reached a career-high ranking of number 110 this week and caused an upset by beating France’s Ugo Humbert.
