Cagliari, 18 August (LaPresse) – Good news for Cagliari footballer Yael Trepy: earlier today, as planned, the neuromuscular block was lifted and sedation was gradually reduced, whilst ventilatory support was also gradually withdrawn. “Maintaining optimal respiratory exchange has made it possible to discontinue mechanical ventilation and, this afternoon, to extubate the patient,” says Stefania Milia, head of the Emergency and Intensive Care Unit at the Santissima Annunziata Hospital, part of the Sassari University Hospital (AOU). Upon waking – according to the hospital management – the young Rossoblù player showed a full return to consciousness: he is alert and cooperative and, at present, shows no obvious neurological deficits. His respiratory and haemodynamic conditions are stable. Given his recent extubation and the pulmonary condition resulting from inhalation syndrome, Trepy remains in the Intensive Care Unit, where close clinical and respiratory monitoring continues.”
