Milan, Aug. 22 (LaPresse) – MLS announced that Lionel Messi and Inter Miami’s Ian Fray have been fined undisclosed amounts for striking opponents on the head and neck in two separate incidents during stoppage time in the second half of the match, which ended 2-2 against the Philadelphia Union. Messi slapped Union player Quinn Sullivan on the back of the head during a verbal altercation on Wednesday evening. Sullivan was also involved in the confrontation that resulted in Fray being fined. After losing his balance while dribbling inside the penalty area, Sullivan collided with Fray, who grabbed him by the neck.
