Milan, Aug. 22 (LaPresse) – Italy claimed its second consecutive victory at the CEV Trendyol EuroVolley 2026. At the Scandinavium in Gothenburg, Julio Velasco’s Azzurre defeated Montenegro 3-0 (25-13, 25-24, 25-19) and remain unbeaten in Pool D. It was a dominant performance by the Italian national team, which took control of the match from the opening exchanges, imposed its rhythm and allowed very little to Montenegro, who suffered their second consecutive defeat after losing 3-0 to Sweden in the opening match. Italy will be back on court tomorrow, August 23, against hosts Sweden (6 p.m., live on Rai 2, Sky Sport Arena and DAZN). For their second match in the continental tournament, Italy head coach Julio Velasco started with Orro as setter, Egonu as opposite, Nervini and Antropova as outside hitters, Danesi and Meli in the middle, and Fersino as libero. Montenegro lined up with Tvrdisic as setter, Perovic as opposite, Petranovic and Jovovic as outside hitters, Djurovic and Dragovic in the middle, and Cenovic as libero.
