Milan, 23 Aug. (LaPresse) – Six Nordic national football associations have stepped up the pressure on FIFA President Gianni Infantino, stating that they have “lost confidence” in his leadership. The associations of Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Iceland and the Faroe Islands issued a joint statement on Sunday in which they said they were “viewing the organisation’s governance and decision-making at the highest levels with great concern”. They also stated that they stand united with UEFA, the governing body of European football, and support the measures already proposed. Infantino is under pressure to resign after his plans to sell future World Cup profits to private investors sparked controversy and criticism from UEFA, CONCACAF and the Asian Football Confederation.
