Milan, 27 Aug. (LaPresse) – The Italian Gymnastics Federation reports that “Sofia Raffaeli was involved in a road accident on 17 August whilst driving home from Milan, where she had landed with the rest of the delegation returning from Frankfurt following the Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships. A rear-end collision on the motorway necessitated medical examinations and a brief hospital stay. The medical report revealed multiple contusions resulting from the road accident, with injuries to her upper limb and forehead. The Italian athlete was constantly monitored and treated by Prof. Andrea Ferretti, president of the Federation’s Medical Commission. Fortunately, the examinations ruled out any serious consequences, and the removal of the stitches will mark the completion of her recovery from the accident. Raffaeli has therefore been able to return to Chiaravalle, where she is spending a few days of well-deserved holiday with her family.” (Continued).
