(LaPresse) – Lecce has announced that, through its lawyers, it has initiated three separate legal actions against the footballer Lameck Banda and the Libyan club Al-Swehly Sports Club, to which the player transferred without the Salento-based club’s consent. Before the FIFA Tribunal, Lecce has initiated proceedings to seek a ruling on the alleged illegality – in the absence of just cause – of the unilateral termination carried out by the player. It is also seeking a ruling on the potential liability of the Libyan club which, in Lecce’s view, induced the termination of the employment relationship. Compensation for damages is therefore being sought, in addition to the imposition of the disciplinary sanctions provided for under current FIFA regulations against Banda and Al-Swehly Sports. The second claim concerns the Libyan club’s use of images depicting the player in match situations from last season without, according to the Lecce-based club, holding the relevant rights. Finally, Lecce has brought proceedings before the Arbitration Panel (as provided for in the collective agreement between the FIGC, Lega Serie A and the AIC) to ascertain Banda’s alleged breach of contractual obligations, with the possibility of suspending the payment of the player’s wages with effect from 1 July and of imposing the financial penalties provided for in that agreement.
