Milan, 10 Sept. (LaPresse) – “We played well; it wasn’t easy on this pitch and in this atmosphere. Although they were playing at home, they sat very deep as they have strong players on the counter-attack. Despite everything, we played well, and this draw helps us achieve our objectives in the table.” Roma manager Gian Piero Gasperini said this whilst speaking to Sky Sport after the draw against Fenerbahçe in the Champions League. “The substitutions? I’d say Balerdi and Molina came on well; it wasn’t easy. Rodrigo Mora could have done a bit more between the lines, then De Roon came on in the closing stages when we needed to secure the result. This year, in that respect, everyone’s taking the right approach,” he added. Both against Atalanta and Fenerbahce, there was an excellent first half followed by a start to the second half that cost us two goals. “Two instances make a pattern; in football, not everything can be explained. Sometimes it’s down to chance, sometimes it isn’t. But from the next match onwards we need to be more careful, because in the last two games it’s cost us a goal,” he concluded.
